Hurricane looks to Close the Season on High Note on Senior Night vs. St Albans.

With the 3 game losing streak put to bed with last week's 17-10 OT victory over George Washington, the #9 (5-3) Hurricane Redskins set their attention to Scott Tinsley's St. Albans Red Dragons.

"Personally this game means a lot to me, commented Hurricane Head Coach Jeremy Taylor. "Coach Tinsley was my collegiate head coach and served as my offensive coordinator here at Hurricane for 2 years."

Tinsley has his Red Dragons (4-5) in a place where a victory would send them to the playoffs for the first time since 2007. One long time member of the media recently told me that if it not for Tinsley, St. Albans would be a 1 win team this season.

Ironically it is the Redskins that he and his team will need to upset to secure that playoff birth. "I know that he will have them prepared, as long as he is at St. Albans that will always have a chance to win" Taylor added.

Under Tinsley's tutelage in 2014 and 2015 he had first year starting QBs Dylan Tinsley (2224 yards passing and 22 tds) and Blake Stover (1589 and 15 tds) have successful seasons under center. This season Tinsley has guided another first time starter in Robert Alexander Jr.

Alexander has 1776 yards passing and 10 tds but has been intercepted a conference high 18 times!

"Defensively we have to stay disciplined," said Redskin Defensive Coordinator Jason Pratt, "we need to play error free and prevent giving up the big play. The line needs to continue to improve, sacks and pressure are a key, we need all 11 on defense being physical, flying to the ball and creating turnovers."

The stop unit comes into the contest off a big effort versus Grant Wells and GW. With Steven Shine and J.T. Cooper collecting sacks, and the Redskins pressuring Wells most of the night, they limited the Marshall commit to 11-32 passing while Curon Cordon intercepted him twice.

On the offensive side of the ball, Christian hill returned from injury to lead the Skins with 123 rushing on 23 carries, including all 20 yards and the winning touchdown in overtime. Taylor looks at tomorrow's game thusly, "we have to be able to drive the field and get a hat on a hat, they have had 2 weeks to prepare for us so we are preparing for anything."

SENIOR NIGHT: Taylor salutes those playing their last regular season game, and perhaps the their last game at Redskins Stadium. "This special group of seniors have shown great leadership and resiliency. No one would have thought that was possible during our 3 game slide. I'm proud of the way they have battled and know they wont disappoint."

Coach Pratt added, "it will be a special night for a great group of young men, they will truly leave a legacy on the program. Our seniors want this one badly!"

The Series: Hurricane and St. Albans played each other way back in the 1950's but they never played again until 1999. Since then they have played 14 times with the Skins dominating the series 13-1! The Red Dragons lone win came in 2007 21-20 at Crawford Field. The same year that St. Albans made it to the state championship game. St. Albans has NEVER won at Redskin Stadium where they own a 0-7 record.

Notes:Last week's overtime victory was Hurricane's first OT game and victory since 2007 when they won at Brooke 33-27.

Nathan Roy has not thrown a TD pass in two weeks. He still owns an amazing 14 to 2 ratio of TDs vs. interceptions.

Christian Hill now has 1150 yards rushing topping Zach Pate's 1103 yards in 2013 as the most for a Hurricane Running back this decade.

Payton Lunsford and Cooper both eclipsed the 100 tackle mark with the efforts vs. GW.

Last season only Lucas Cooper had over 100 tackles, and in 2015 no Redskin topped that plateau.

Hurricane has clinched a playoff berth with a slight chance to host a game next week. Potential opponents vary greatly depending on outcomes of tomorrow's game so rather than list those hear, let's enjoy Senior Night and the rest will sort itself out.

The Senior Class go out in style and Hurricane heads to the playoffs having gotten their Mojo back!
